Wednesday, Oct 12: We did an activity looking at the different properties of compounds. I assigned an assigment- value 65 (due Monday) on the properties of acids, bases, ionic & molecular compounds. Quiz tomorrow!
Tuesday, Oct 11: We went over naming molecular compounds with prefixes. Homework: page 270 # 20-25 & practice sheet # 5 & 8. Quiz # 2 on Thursday.
Wednesday, Oct 5: We went over naming hydrates today. I gave you some molecular compounds to study and gave you time to make flash cards. Complete the bottom table on sheet # 7- #2: Sulfur & #3: ozone. Have a great long weekend!!!
Tuesday, Oct 4: We did a partner activity wih nmaing compounds. I assigned sheet # 7 (all but the bottom table).

Tuesday, Sept 27: We looked at polyatomic ions. You need to memorize the 10 polyatomic ions and bases on your naming sheet. Your homework is to do section 1 & 3 on your practice sheet.
Monday, Sept 26: We started Unit 2 chemical names and formulas. We did naming and writing formulas for binary compounds.

Tuesday, Sept 20: Warm-up - We went over the scientists to help prepare you for your test. I went over 6.1 & 6.2 the Periodic table. Homework page 160 #1-7 and page 167 #8-14.
Monday, Sept 19: Warm-up - We reviewed electron configuration. You did an in-class assignment on 6.1 Organzing the periodic table.
Friday, Sept 16: We went over the homework. I went over electron configurations using the diagonal rule.
Homework: write the electron configuratin for Br, Au and U. Page 135 # 8 & 9. Scientist study device due Monday (See Wednesday for details).

I assigned your Scientist study device due on Monday, Sept 19. See details and grading scheme below:
Using pages 128, 129 and 144 you will find the names and contributions of the 9 Scientists that are mentioned in your textbook. You need to make your own study device. The scientists name, a diagram, as well as their contribution needs to be included. You will be graded on creativity, usefulness for someone to use this device to study from and correct information. This study device or aid is due on Monday, Sept 19th.

Monday, Sept 12: We went over the homework. This was a work period whatever was not completed in class is for homeworl. I handed out more two step metric conversion prctice questions. You need to complete #1-10 for tomorrow. I also handed out a Classification of Matter concept map for you to fill in using pages 39-55 in your textbook. Practice questions page 42 # 1-8 and page 55 #28-34.
